Pogust Goodhead

For a firm that started in 2018, Pogust Goodhead (formally PGMBM) is pulling more than its fair share of weight as a litigation boutique. Managing partner Tom Goodhead is the driving force behind the growth of the firm.

Pogust Goodhead specialises in large scale litigation by acting for clients that have been wronged. The strategy is aligned with Goodhead’s passion in politics, current affairs and social issues. Over the last four years, he has overseen the firm’s tremendous growth with 600 employees across several offices in Europe, the US and Brazil.

The firm has been acting on several mammoth pieces of litigation over the past few years, with Goodhead taking on BHP over the collapse of the Fundão Dam in Brazil. With the firm representing 200,000 Brazilians, the size of the claim led it to be the largest group action ever in the history of the English courts.

It was also involved in the group cases against Volkswagen over diesel emissions scandals. Volkswagen agreed to pay £193m in a settlement last May. Since then, the firm has issued fresh claims against VW and other car manufacturers over the emissions scandal. With further actions expected in 2023, Goodhead is transforming this young firm into a major disputes player.
