Mike Parker

Wilsons

Wilsons managing partner Mike Parker is a pragmatic law firm leader whose mantra is “control the controllables”. In other words, while the market continues to be buffeted by global economic headwinds and turmoil, Parker sees his role as making sure the individuals and teams at his Salisbury stalwart firm are as motivated, engaged and inspired as possible. In practice, that will see a rejig of the firm’s management structure in 2023 to bring younger talent on board, senior hires covering areas such as people and compliance, a sharper focus on sustainability and reducing Wilsons’ carbon footprint and an all-out effort to ensure everyone in the business feels part of the bigger picture.

And talking of size, more prosaically it also means a recognition that in the current market being a £14m turnover business may not provide enough scale for Wilsons to thrive. Expect to see the firm best known for private client-related advice to secure some significant growth in 2023, potentially via acquisitions. Just so long as the cultural fit is right. For Parker, custodian of Wilsons’ culture since 2014, this is paramount.
