Alice Brogi

Gibson Dunn & Crutcher

Private equity may be slowing down, but Gibson Dunn’s Alice Brogi continues to travel at full speed.

Having joined the firm in October 2021 from Vinson & Elkins, Brogi is already responsible for some of the firm’s biggest private equity clients and signed around 15 large deals in 2022, having completed several multibillion-pound transactions for investment companies Blackstone, KKR and HRL Morrison. Brogi’s most challenging deal of 2022 concerned advising KKR on its $1bn investment in Northumbrian Water. Not only has the water industry faced much scrutiny recently, but the war in Ukraine and inflation meant getting the price right for both parties was trickier than usual.

Considering the financial climate, the challenges concerning financing and more thorough due diligence processes will continue into 2023. But Brogi is not fazed. On the contrary, she is enthralled by the opportunities – it means more bargaining power when acting for buyers and more room to negotiate. Couple that with the evolving strategies of investors interested in infrastructure and energy transition and Brogi is heading into the year bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
