When a marriage break down the unhappy couple can spend a great deal of time in court as each person’s wealth is totted up and potentially shared out. For messy divorces this can take even longer when one of the couple tries to hide how much money they have.

B P Collins examines a recent decision by the Supreme Court to allow two ex-wives to have their financial settlements looked at again. The wives claimed their husbands had been dishonest about their wealth before their settlements had been reached. This has now been reviewed in an attempt to show that a spouse attempting to mislead the court will not be tolerated. Click here for more information.

S&O Partnership revisits the controversial debate surrounding anonymity for those accused of committing sexual offences. The Home Affairs Committee has published a report recommending that unless someone is charged with committing a sexual offence they should not be named in the press. The idea is to save the individuals from irreversible reputational damage such as in the case of Paul Gambaccini, who was investigated under operation Yewtree. Click here for more information.

Collyer Bristow discusses Radiohead’s lawsuit against its former record label Parlophone. The rock band is suing Parlophone after the label took £744,000 from the band’s digital download royalties. Despite Radiohead’s contract ending with Parlophone after their 2003 album, Hail to the Thief,recording contracts  usually contain an agreement to pay royalties on ‘future formats’ at a rate to be agreed.
