Central & Eastern Europe

Binder Grösswang has appointed Martina Rommer as an attorney-at-law in its banking and finance team. Rommer previously worked at Wolf Theiss and DLA Piper.

Polish firm Hansberry Tomkiel has hired competition expert Grzegorz Materna. Materna was previously director of the competition protection department at the Polish Antimonopoly Office (UOKiK).

France

Clifford Chance has hired Alexandre Couturier as a partner in its Paris real estate team. Couturier joins from King & Spalding, where he was also a partner. He advises on a range of real estate and real estate finance issues.

Germany

Clifford Chance has moved to strengthen its German offering with the appointment of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s global co-head of energy and natural resources, Anselm Raddatz. Raddatz will join Clifford Chance’s Düsseldorf office and will co-head the firm’s German corporate group alongside Thomas Krecek. He will also be a member of the firm’s global corporate leadership group.

Latham & Watkins has lost its third Munich partner in four months as corporate specialist Kilian Helmreich moves to German boutique Gütt Olk Feldhaus. The firm was set up in 2011 by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer lawyers Tilmann Gütt and Heiner Feldhaus and Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy lawyer Sebastian Olk. The three founding partners were joined in 2013 by Hengeler Mueller counsel Attila Oldag. Heilmreich becomes the fifth partner at the firm.

Oppenhoff & Partner has hired Christof Gaudig as a partner in the firm’s Cologne corporate and M&A practice. Gaudig joins from Mayer Brown, where he was a partner.

GvW Graf von Westphalen has hired a team of three lawyers in Frankfurt. Anja Dombrowsky focuses on employment law while Till Liebau and Markus Rasner are M&A specialists and all three join the firm as partners. Dombrowsky and Liebau both join directly from CMS Hasche Sigle, where Dombrowsky was senior counsel and Liebau associated partner. Rasner also worked at CMS but left to become a partner at GSK Stockmann & Kollegen in 2012. Between 2014 and 2015 he was a sole practitioner.

Ireland

Matheson’s partnership has elected head of financial services Michael Jackson as its new managing partner, for a four-year term beginning on 1 January 2016. Jackson replaces Liam Quirke, who will become the firm’s chairman.

Italy

Gattai Minoli Agostinelli & Partners has opened a tax department with the hire of a five-strong team from Macchi di Cellere Gangemi. The team is led by equity partner Eugenio Romita and includes junior partner Marco Sandoli.
